01What hook size do I need?

Match the hook to the fish and the bait. 2/0, 3/0, 5/0 and 7/0 cover snapper, trevally, kahawai and most table fish. Step up to 6/0 to 12/0 Live Bait Hooks for kingfish.

02Circle or beak hook?

Circle hooks: don't strike, just wind. They set in the corner of the mouth, ideal for straylining and releasing fish. Beak hooks have an extra-long, sharp point for a positive set when you strike.

03How do I rig for surfcasting?

Surfcasting is about bait presentation, sharp hooks and long casts on a rod of around 12ft. Use a dropper or pulley rig, and learn your beach: the gutters, banks and tide.

04How do I strayline?

Use the lightest sinker you can, or none, so the bait drifts naturally down the berley trail. A rolling swivel between main line and trace stops line twist.

05Which soft bait size?

Match the baitfish: 3" for trout and smaller fish, 4" to 5" for most saltwater fishing, and the 7" Storm Shad when big fish are feeding on big baitfish.

Why are bundles cheaper?

Buying several packs in one go lets us price them below what the same packs cost one at a time. The saving shown on each bundle is calculated from its real price and compare-at price.

Are bundles better for the environment?

One bundled order means fewer shipments and less packaging than several small orders, which lowers the carbon footprint of getting your tackle to you. All Wise Angler packaging is 100% plastic-free and certified compostable.

Can I choose my sizes?

Yes, for the Sample Bundle, Hook Up Bundle, Swivel Pro Bundle and StormX Variety Pack: choose your sizes or packs on the product page. The other bundles are ready-made kits you can add straight to cart.

What hook size should I use?

Match tackle size to the target fish. 2/0, 3/0, 5/0 and 7/0 suit snapper, trevally, kahawai and most table fish. Step up for kingfish on live bait.

What do I need for surfcasting?

Good bait presentation, sharp hooks and long casts on a rod of around 12ft, usually with a dropper or pulley rig. Local knowledge of your beach matters as much as the gear. The Surfcast Bundle and Swivel Pro Bundle cover the terminal tackle.

How do I dispose of the packaging?

Follow the disposal instructions on each pack for your local facilities. Our packaging is certified to AS 5810 for home composting.
